Tobago is the smaller of the two islands that form the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Situated northeast of Trinidad and outside of the hurricane belt, Tobago has transformed into a tourism destination. Fought over by the Spanish, British, French, Dutch and Courlanders; Tobago has developed a rich and varied history and culture. First discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1498, Tobago has evolved over the centuries.
